Kinzua bridge

So mom decided to take a fall trip last weekend to a local attraction, the Kinzua railroad bridge. It was an engineering wonder and for years people would come from all over just to walk across it. Sadly in July of 2003 an F1 tornado tore through the valley and hit the bridge. A small part was left standing and you can still walk out and look down at the mangled pieces of metal that used to make up the massive structure. It is also a pet friendly place so your people can bring you with them! I choose to sit this trip out because crazy mom wanted to hike to the bottom!! It was a little beyond my comfort zone! Here are some pictures though because they are too cool not to share! it really is a lovely trip especially in the fall.

Looking out from the remaining bridge walkway.
The walkway and the remains in the valley.
Looking up from below.
The mangled tresses.
The little river that runs through the valley below.

  1. Right now a trip to CVS is considered adventure travel but maybe someday when road trips are again possible…looks like a neat spot to visit! Not sure that Lilly would be thrilled to stand at the end, though.
